Solve : ADDING A FAST USB CONTROLLER?

Answer»

I am using a netvista IBM pc configuration as follows.

NetVista personal computer 6792-11A
Operating system: Windows XP

Original DESCRIPTION: Intel Pentium 4 1.6GHz (256KB), 128MB, 40GB 7200RPM IDE HDD, PCI Desktop (4x4), nVidia Vanta 16MB 4X AGP, 48x CD-ROM, Intel 10/100 Ethernet, Windows 2000

It has four USB ports. Now when i connect any flash DRIVE or an external Hard drive a information pop up shows that this device can WORK faster if CONNECTED to a high speed device etc....click for information

My question is can i add a High speed controller to this computer and if so How should i go about doing does it require some additional Hardware or software?
Thanks and regardsYou need a PCI based USB 2.0 card, about $10. Here is an example:

But there are MANY others which vary in price:

They all work the same. Plug into PCI slot, load the drivers and get 2-4 extra USB 2.0 ports.Yeah, and Hi-Speed USB is 40 X faster than the older USB 1.1 standard, so it is worth the purchase!

8-)see if your computer has usb drivers installed. If it does not check to see if you already have USB 2.0 by checkng your BIOS. If you do but the drivers are not installed download generic drivers and use themsome USB ports will still opperate if the drivers are not installed but they will only run at 1.0Newbie,

That was not the question however. The up to date peripheral is reporting that there are slow USB 1,1 ports and SUGGESTING using 2.0 to speed transfer. The USB 1.1 information is irrelevant.GX1Man, Pcdoc4christ,
