Answer» I have a Dell 4600 desktop with 2 256 memory STRIPS for 512. My son said I could add 2 1 gig strips which he ordered for me. I put them in, but the computer now just RECOGNIZES 256. Is this a matter of having them in the wrong slot configuration? How can I fix?You should check at the Dell site WHETHER that board supports 2 1G strips... Also check to see if he ordered the CORRECT RAM...not all RAM is alike.A quick google shows it will accept 2 gigs of ram. As patio said, make sure it is the right type.
