Answer» What is the fastest replacement for my AMD 1200 (socket a, 462 pins, K7 200 bus)? My mobo is a ASUS (sock-a, ATX, a7v133a, via133a). Will a AMD Sempron 2500+ (Thoroughbred 333MHz FSB 256KB L2 Cache Socket A) work? I don't want to upgrade my mobo as I've already invested in memory.Did you not go to the manufacturer's web site and see what that shows?
www.asus.com
It all depends on the board. Period. As much as I love my ASUS mobo, their website sucks. Last time I went there it was pretty much useless. I'll check again. What about this post from the PAST?

I tried the ASUS website again, except for the forums, they don't list anything this old What I did pull out of some research is my mobo and cpu are rare(because they're old). I think I may try SELLING it (hope for $100) and upgrade to a newer mobo and cpu.
I looked at the new LINK. Yikes! I'll stay as far away as possible from overclocking. THANKS for looking into it.If you need more speed, a new setup seems the best way.
