Answer» To my fellow techies and gamers, I need your help. I recently upgraded my processor from an Intel Celeron D 3.14 Gh/z to a new Intel Duo Core Processor 2.13 Gh/z. Now whenever I play any games, from WoW to AoE III, my computer freezes, I get no power to my keyboard, and my headset replays the last .5 seconds of sound. My idea is that while i have Duel cores and a higher Front Side Bus, I don't have the Gh/z to game anymore... Someone help Graphics card is new, clean and screwed in snugly. i think i overdid it on the thermopaste (TP), i just took the processor out and cleaned up the extra TP. all fans are clean. case is clean.... Am I destined not to have a decent computer... ive got a couple questions... 1. by saying you "overdid the thermalpaste" can we assume that you installed an aftermarket cooling solution? if so, what make/model is the VGA cooler? 2. did you overclock your GPU? and if so, what software did you use/are using? RAM - 3 Gig/s DDR2 Duel Channel < can't have "true' dual mode with 3 gigs... your running 3 sticks thats not optimal* better off with 2 1 gig sticks < thats dual mode double check )after grounding yourself ) all the mobo connections[ and believe it or not, all your case wires and cords*] and the heatsink / fan if you don't have a driver issue going on, it could be a failing psu * you would be surprised that just a loose cord on your puter screws things up I found i had this issue today , i was checking my new mobos temperatures for anything out of the ordinary and found i was reaching extreme heat 70c , so i applied some more thermal compound and my computer was in fact freezing up , so i took the cpu to a work bench , and wiped of all the old thermal compound , checked to see if everything was ok on the back *sometimes thermal paste seeps into the back* and after reapplying a very thin layer of the compound i was fine .. Tony i retested everythin... but i got some more info. 5 minutes into an intense games of AoE3, my computer froze up again, and after 23ish minutes of WAITING it somewhat recovered. It went into VGA mode and Said that the Graphics Drivers have stopped working properly, and to restart to return them to normal. One of my techie friends said that the GPU and Duo core processor aren't getting enough power together, yet my Power Supply is 550 watt... thats my news for today... Squirrels, Natures speed bumps. There may be several issues at work here.PROBLEM SOLVED!!! the issue was that one of my gig sticks of ram was going out, caused issues N' such, Yall rock and peace out Viruses=Porn, porn=FTWlol, wonder what brand of ram he had ?
