Solve : Annoying Crash :(?

Answer»

Hey everyone..

I got a second hand computer, but bought a new hardrive.. And after loading XP, drivers etc.. All was fine.
But once I try to play a game, it'll flash a quick blue screen and then restart
(Sometimes it doesn't even get to the pre-game titles/credits etc)

It's also HAPPENED WATCHING a youtube video :/ (It was as I clicked for a new tab)

I've tried reinstalling the game, UPDATED graphics card drivers..
(The bios is a few months out of date, but I don't want to risk creating more problems..)
Can anyone help?

I've tried both Quake 4 & Hellgate London
and playing onnn:
Q6600 (clocked to 2.7)
320MB 8800GTS
Asus p5w dh deluxe
3GB Memory (I've tried MEMTEST and it appears fine)
There are also 4 fans all running fine..

(I've tried going into system properties and unclicking 'Automatic restart', but it still restarts)

Help meee.. Please Wait...you got a 2nd hand computer that has a quad core 6600 in it and an 8800GTS vid card ? ?
And 3G of RAM ? ?
Yeh.. and only for £330 XD

Any ideas on what the problem could be?
The original HDD that came with was busted, and has vista on..

Could the setting on bios be set for vista etc? And conflict with XP?
Would a 'back to default' reset on the bios be a good idea? No.
The BIOS could care less and doesn't see what OS is installed...
However resetting it back to defaults is a good PLACE to start.
Is this a legit XP install?
Did you remember to install ALL MBoard drivers from the driver CD that came with the machine ?
Is the old drive still in this machine ?I restarted it back to default and no change

Yeh, legit version of XP.. Disc etc

I didn't get any driver CD.. But I can't find any mboard drivers? :S
Only to update the bios..

And no, the old hdd has been taken out You NEED the MBoard drivers or that machine will continue to have issues.
They are available at the ASUS site along with a PDF of your MBoard Owners Manual...both FREE.
