Answer» got a nvidia fx5500 pci card 256mb when I install it will go to the windows screen and then it will black out and wont go any further. Is this a driver problem? I downloaded the DRIVERS from the disk and the web SIGHT but cant get them to load. it will get so far and then I get (Nvida setup program couldnot LOCATE any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware Setup will now exit. ) Will the machine boot to safe mode ? ? This is done by tapping F8 repeatedly at startup...well with a little frustration and some reading I got it to recognize it by uninstalling the on board and going that route but now when I shut down the computer and try to start it again it does nothing. it wont even come on unless I take the card out and PUT the monitor back to the on board. but that is just a forced bios generic driver isn't it? according to the device manager it showed the latest driver before I shut it down. But like I said now it wont come on and I got tired of banging my head against the wall. when it does come on it shows that it is the 256mb card during the boot sequence. Try to go to safe mode FIRST by tapping on F8, if it does show up in safe mode then it is an os prob. If it doesn't then I think there could be something wrong with the video card. You can as well check it in the bios if the video card is detected properly or not.
