Answer» Hey! This is OFF TOPIC! Don't complain! As Seen on TV: The 10 Most Laughably Misleading Ads Yeah, Yeah, it is five years old. But history repeats itself! The only thing that TOPS those ads is some of the same kind of stuff we now have on the Internet. Déjà vu all over again. Question: Have you seen stuff on the Internet like the in the link above? So far, I have not got blocking software that will warm me when a DEAL is just too good to be true.I don't think these ads are all that misleading. The worst they do is pretend that their products are more than mere novelties. If people fall for it, they're obviously not using enough common sense to say "You know, adding a magnet to my pen isn't going to stop me from dropping it." What's misleading is when Taco Bell says they use actual meat or products are claimed to have no MSG even though almost all processed FOODS actually do contain it (it just goes by a different name). Another good one is when restaurants put "Kobe beef" on their menu. Here's a quick tip: if you are eating in the US, you are not eating Kobe beef. And for what it's worth, those peeling gloves work pretty well. They're just completely unnecessary because you could peel blanched potatoes with your bare hands if you really wanted to. That's how it goes for most of these products: they often work just FINE, but they serve no practical purpose. And in most cases, it's something you can make yourself in less than an hour. |
