Solve : ASUS V9999 GFX Card Problem?

Answer»

I've bought a ASUS V9999/TD/128MB 6800/AGP Graphics card. After placing it in it's slot (the only slot it would fit into, so I know it's the correct slot.) I turned on the PC and the card started screaming at me. I very very loud SCREECH sound. :-? Nothing on the monitor appeared when I ahd the monitor plugged into the new screeching GFX card or the old intergrated GFX. So I've took out the new card and now here I am, at your mercy.

I've uninstalled the old Intergrated Graphics drivers before I tried putting the new card in aswell.

Should install the V9999 drivers before I put in the card, or is there a different REASON?

Is it possible my system supports PCI and not AGP? :-/

Thank you for any help or replies Well, the only part of that card that could cause a screeching sound would be the fan. Are you sure you power supply is adequate to support this card?

Does your motherboard require changing a BIOS setting when changing from onboard video to separate video card? Many do.Quote

Those answers would be no idea and not sure.

I'll have a rummage around in the BIOS, but how would I find my power supply details etc?

Is it possible the screeching is coming from something other than the GFX card, something it's conflicting with?Take a close look at any printed label on your power supply. It should provide some info.

Gigabyte has downloadable motherboard manuals. I see there are several versions of your board listed on their site and I'm not sure which one you have. See http://www.gigabyte-usa.com/Motherboard/Support/Manual/Manual_List.htm to download a manual. The different versions of the GA-8SIMLH may be the same as far as disabling onboard video. That's just a guess.

The motherboard may have a marking on it somewhere that indcates what version it is.
