Anyway, I have been having hard lockups during game play, mostly Battlefield 2 and Dungeons and Dragons Online. No other option but to hit the ol reset BUTTON or unplug system. During reboot all goes well until after the Windows loading screen, and before the Windows welcome screen when it plays the Open Windows splash tune, the system reboots. Now this will go on for anywhere for 3 to 8 restarts and finally it will boot correctly. Now I can go into Safe mode every time but even with a proper shutdown its not a guarantee it will boot on the next try. Safe mode has never failed to boot. FRIDAY morning this happen again and after a hour and a half of rebooting still nothing. so I decided it was time for a fresh install (disk already couldn't defrag due to clutter). After a clean install I hadn't even got all the drivers in and it started failing to reboot again. It seems to be more stable using the windows generic video drivers, but it is still flaky.
I have sent one Black Box package to Abit About a month ago with no reply as of yet. There is one known problem with my board and that's the North Bridge fan header is dead, I power the fan from a molex plug. Heat build-up is a concern but I haven't seen any real high temps from the UGuru panel or alarms. I know this can be a rock solid gaming platform and with the exception of the old drives is a fairly cutting edge system. I have been pleased with it since I put it together even with this problem. Please help me PPPLLLLEEEAASSEEE:biggrin: check around on here for similar problem and you'll see one thing thats the same - a8n-sli mobo. the northbridge fan is a joke, and mine did the same as yours when it was overheating.
