Answer» Hi i am trying to install an ati radeon 9200se 128 ddr card. I have uninstalled the geforce driver before swapping cards but the pc keeps rebooting itself with the ati card installed.Briefly a blue screen with a message appears but not long enough to read it. I am running under win xp pro sp2. Booting in safe mode LOADS the os but as soon as i try to access the driver, display properties or device manager it shuts down.1. Be certain the card is properly seated 2. Uninstall any drivers (From the ADD / Remove software MENU) you may have had installed for either the ATI or Nvidia videocard 3. Use a registry scanner to remove any registry entries that are related to the ATI or Nvidia videocard. 4. Remove any entries that are related to either the Nvidia or ATI videocard in your device manager. (Right CLICK My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager)
Additional: There is a tool somewhere on the Internet that can remove drivers automatically for you (And their remains) but I can not think of the name at the moment. Perhaps someone else can.The tool you are referring to is Detonator rip.Have done all the above, finally GOT to read the error message,it tells me "irql less not equal".is it saying somthing about your 16 bit sub? cause thats what it sounds like and youll have to find the missing file and put it back into system 32 find the file the file thats problly messed up you can find in your repaire folder but you need the right name post the file name its looking for
