Solve : ATI Radeon bios flash? |
|
Answer» Hi guys. I have a Sapphire ATI Radeon 7000 64 MG DDR PCI video card that I got at a garage sale. The person I got it from said that it was in a Mac. Now I want to use it in one of my PC's, but the bios is flashed for a Mac. I know that this card is capable of being used in either one, depending on what bios is flashed on it. The problem is I cannot find a bios for PC. I have searched for OEM and modded bios's. I know the card works, Iv'e installed it and used it, but I get red verticle lines on all my screens no matter what computer or what version of drivers I use. All of my research tells me this is because of it being flashed for a Mac. And yes I do know that the GPU being overheated and damaged can cause this. But I'm hoping it's just the MAC bios. So if someone could help me out I would really appreciate it.Hmm,people are reading but no one is replying. I hope that dosen't mean that there is no way to find the bios for this card.I'm not aware of any flash that will accomplish this...as far as i know they are manufactured for one or the other but not both... I saw this guy on the golf course last year Soybean ! ! Well, lets see. 1. Not everyone would want/know how to do this. People expect to buy it and just have it work. 2. ATI (from what I have read) doesn't want to do this because they can charge more money for the MAC version. 3. There are alot of graphic cards that can be softmodded to a higher more expensive model by UNLOCKING pipelines and or overclocking them to meet the specs of a more expensive card. I guess its more of a marketing/convenience thing.#1 Doesn't make sense...an install CD could run the flash. #2 I don't get it... #3 Has nothing to do with attempting to get a vid card MADE for a Mac to run on Windows.Well I didn't mean to make it so complicated. I was just wondering if someone could help me find the correct bios for this otherwise useless(to me) card. It couldn't hurt to try, I'm not out anything if it doesn't work. But I guess if this is a dead end I'll just put it back on the shelf with my other spare parts. This thread brought back memories. About 4 years ago I flashed a 3 day OLD Radeon 7000 card with an updated firmware, just, well, because I could. I followed the instructions on a website I had found, and it didn't work AFTERWARDS. As in totally dead. I took it back to the shop and said it had stopped working. (Well, it had!) They gave me a replacement... Just thought I'd mention that. I'm not sure if the Garage Sale would have the same return Policy... |
