Answer» Hi, I am new to this forum. I found this site and am hopeful someone can assist me with this problem I am having. Every time I try to print (it doesn't matter what program), my computer automatically reboots itself. I have tried deleting the printer and re-installing, I have tried UPDATING the drivers, but anytime I try to do anything related to the printer, the computer reboots. I have a HP Pavilion v50 computer with a hp deskjet 845c. My operating system is MS Windows XP.
I have also tried changing the USB connection around and still am having the same problem. Nothing seems to be working to correct this problem.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
MollyTry a registry repair, scan your computer for errors and defragment sounds like your computer has some cross files or messed up reg keysTry turning off Automatic Reboot on System Failure, then look for error logs.molly:
See if you get the same result when you print a test page:
1. Click Start > Printers and Faxes 2. In the Printers and Faxes window, right-click on HP DeskJet 845 and choose Properties from the context menu 3. In the HP DeskJet 845 Properties DIALOG box, select the General tab and click the Print Test Page button 4. If the test page prints without crashing Windows XP, then the printer and drivers are OK, so we MAY start trying to figure out what else may be causing the reboot problem
Let us know how it goes, DocGreat News!!!! I'm not the most puter literate person in the world, but, after trying everything I could POSSIBLY think of....I finally did a "Restore".
Problem FIXED....no more re-booting when I try to print something.
Thanks for your advice and assistance,
Molly
