Answer» A couple of months ago I had to have my motherboard replaced. I now have AMD Sempron 2800.
Since the replacement there has been a STARTUP beep (single beep) as the WinFast logo fades - I BELIEVE this is a coded signal that startup is ok. The trouble is that I find it increasingly irritating and I wondered if it could be suppressed or ELIMINATED. Am I right in thinking that beep codes sound when there is something not right that NEED checking? - and would all beep codes be affected if one was altered in some way?
I have Windows XP SP2 768 RAM, and BIOS Phoenix 6.000
Thanks for any advice.You are correct in your assumption that some motherboards beep with a successful POST and then continue to function normally.
