Answer» Compaq Evo D51c (HP lists as D510 Minitower) This is hardware. Is the machine still under warranty? Have you checked the FAQ on the hp.com site?No warrenty and yes, I have gone through the site. ANyway, I have now cleaned the contacts of the RAM and also the socket to no avail. The first time after boot, it didn't give the error code, but after the memory check, colors just started flashing on the screen. After a rebooting, it went back to square one: black screen (monitor saying no valid input) and the computer hanging. I am reseting the CMOS now and hopefully I can try a couple of other things... but this is where I am now. Btw, the RAM is a 512 DDR PC-2100 with CL 2 I believe.Try replacing the CMOS battery Quote from: Raptor on April 15, 2007, 12:10:17 PM Try replacing the CMOS batteryTested with a multi meter. It's fine. Also put another in for giggles and it works no different.what is the beep combonation? like is it two short beeps or one long beep and two short beep?Replace the ram. I think that is your culprit. Afterthought: Some ram can be inserted backwards. Make sure yours isn't.have you tried PUTTING the memory cards in the other way? don't laugh because i'm serious, but that SOMETIMES happens....it cant hurt the computer, and there is nothing to lose if you try it, and everything to gainSo, he used to run the PC fine for years and you both think he'll suddenly find the RAM turned in backwards? |
