Solve : blown power supply? |
|
Answer» I replaced a dead power SUPPLY. As soon as I turned the computer on with the new power supply, it blew too. What could be CAUSING that? Running windows XP.Bad power strip/outlet?Budget priced PSU ? ?plugged in the lead to the power switch wrong? I did that once. blew the circuit breaker. didn't try to boot that 386 again. would the computer have booted up for a minute or so if I had plugged it in wrong? Not likely...you may have other issues here so post some info on the machine.Quote from: kdgir on JANUARY 29, 2008, 03:09:20 PM I replaced a dead power supply. Running windows XP? when i first read your post, this is how i read it. lolI don't have all the stats AVAILABLE on the system, but.....Western Digital harddrive 60GB, the PSU is AG II 480 W, SATA ATX, Win XP.Oops, sorry. I just looked inside my computer now and it turns out they CHANGED the design of the front power connector. Now there is only one connecter and you can't plug int in wrong very easy. Probably wasn't the cause then. But it could just be bad luck- although then again you wouldn't want to install ANOTHER power supply and have it blow as well... |
