Solve : Blue boot screen sticks? |
|
Answer» Soppy if this is already covered. I searched the topics and didn't find it. I might not be calling it right. POST? You'll have to explain. Sorry. The post is black screen with the white letters (or the mainboard/PC brand screen) that appears before Windows loads.POST = Power On Self Test, to check all the individual components for basic functionalityNo POST, whether boot works or not. I remember seeing it in the past. Today the monitor wouldn't come out of sleep mode. Restarted an same prob. After about 12-15 tries, it booted up. I defragged last night, Ive run adaware and spybot. Ran virus scan too. I'm gonna back-up again and try an earlier restore point. Don't know what else to do. Dont wanna recover if I can avoid it.So when you turn on the PC, absolutely nothing is seen on the monitor? Do you hear any beeps? The list below covers most makes of hard drive diagnostic software to test the harddrive..... http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm http://www.maxtor.com/en/support/products/index.htm http://support.wdc.com/download/index.asp http://www.fcpa.fujitsu.com/support/hard-drives/software_utilities.html http://www.fcpa.fujitsu.com/download/hard-drives/#diagnostic http://www.hgst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT http://www.seagate.com/support/seatools/index.html http://www.samsungelectronics.com/hdd/support/utilities/utilities_index. html http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_home.jsp Or this one: http://www.cgsecurity.org/index.html?testdisk.html Rusty: Are you able to think of any recent changes (even as much as a week ago) that were made? * A new program installed? * A new expansion card added? * A virus detected? * A power outage or brown out? * An angry room mate drop kicking your computer across the room? Anything like that? Doc Looks like another AWOP (absent without posting)! Quote Looks like another AWOP (absent without posting)! Did he SLANDER Raptor? If so, we'll need to get him an alibi. Sorry I couldn't get back. Well, now the computer wont go past the blue sceen, ever. If I f1 into BIOS, I can enable the boot time diagnostic screen. Then I get the POST. It lists the system info, the hard drive, and my two cd drives (cd-rw and dvd-rom) then the screen blacks out and nothing else. I can't F10 into system recovery either, norcan I get safe mode. Again, sory I couldn't get back, I'm running on laptop now. Thank for any help. RustyI also downloaded a boot disk and tried to boot from CD, but no go. It seems to try to read from it, but nothing happens. If anyone needs more info, ASK away. By the way, HP's fix is to send the machine out to them for service. They call that help! Thanks Rusty |
