Answer» Hey first time here. Having used too many hours now trying to fix this, I am turning for help wherever help is to be found. I have a laptop with too much and important information to be lost.
I can´t start my computer and I strongly suspect it is somehow because of the last shutdown of the computer. I didn´t have POWER supply plugged in and my batteries burned out while it was in hibernation.
I have a Packard Bell with Vista and an AMI BIOS and have no backup/recovery CD.
When I start my computer with AC nothing happens at all except that it recharges my battery. When I start using the battery alone I GET this up in my screen:
CMOS Battery Low CMOS Checksum Bad CMOS Date/Time Not Set Press F2 to Run SETUP Press F1 to load default values and continue
So I press either F1 or F2 with the same result... PASSWORD!!
I have tried using the default passwords for AMI but none of them worked.
I´m offshore at the moment so I somehow need to fix it myself (hopefully with your help though) and whatever risk I need to take, I probably will. How to clear an unknown BIOS password.
