Solve : Boot up issue with computer?

Answer»

Hi,
I need help. The problem is that my computer needs to be BOOTED up twice each time to turn it on. On first boot up, it normally freezes during the black screen with the Window XP loading screen or rarely the screen that appears after it which is the Packard bell screen background as my computer is a Packard bell make. When it freezes I have to SWITCH it off by holding the on and off button to turn it off and then turning it back on again. It always works after the second times it turns on. Also sometimes when I turn off my computer most of the time it works but sometimes it freezes in mid process of turning off.
This problem seems to have started ever since I have installed AVG 8.0.
Please can someone help me?

I have managed to uninstall AVG 8.0. But it was annoying as when I tried to uninstall it, the program will not respond during the part where it uninstalls, after the scan so I had to use registry editor and deleted avg there. I'm not sure if that worked completely buy I don't see it in add or remove PROGRAMS anymore. Does this METHOD I have used work?
I will post if this has solved the problem or not.Hope that worked [respond]After uninstalling AVG. It does not seem to have solved the problem at all.
Any ideas?Check to see if it boots successfully and consistently in "Safe Mode". Safe Mode will start your computer with a minimal set of device drivers and WITHOUT most if not all of the applications that are scheduled to start automatically in "Normal" mode.

With Safe Mode you're checking to ensure the basic operating system software and your hard drive works.Clik Here
