Answer» The computer stops working randomly throughout the bootup process before it gets to the windows screen. I earsed the harddrive now using a diffrent computer. It will freeze at any window. will not boot off a disc. i can not GET into setup or BIOS. it had xp its like a 2002 emachin i believe.Flakey PSU... Bad stick of RAM... Failing HDD... These are just a few of the THINGS it may be but are a good STARTING point for diagnosing... PSU: Borrow a known good one and swap it in... RAM: DLoad and run MEMTEST...minimum 2 hours... HDD: DLoad and run the FREE diagnostics from the drive manuf.... You may also have a flakey CD drive as well.
