Hello, Well this computer is just like 4 days old, when I got it home I installed all the required stuff that comes with the computer (eg. Motherboard CD stuff, graphics cards driver stuff, my anti-virus SOFTWARE) anyway it all went well like the other times I have done the same with previous new computers. After a couple of days of use the computer started to freeze? and has continued to freeze at random times. It always freezes on a empty desktop (the XP wallpaper- green hills blue sky) no start button, toolbar or desktop icons, I am FORCED to press the reset button. Along with this freezing/crashing problem the computer has also reset itself a couple of times.

After it had reset it self I checked EVENT VIEWER : Event ID 108

The driver nv4_disp for the display device \Device\Video0 got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually
indicates a problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly.

Please check with your hardware device vendor for any driver updates.

If it's a Graphic card driver issue I'm at a loss because I've tried installing the correct updated driver and the one that came on the installation Disc, without Anti Virus installed and using the appropriate methods.I'd return the video card for a new one.
It sounds like you have done everything you can.Sounds like either a bad video card or a corrupt driver (and by the way, when you describe what you did please don't say "stuff" - nobody can know for certain what what "stuff" you are talking about - give a full and complete description of what you are talking about).

Uninstall your video driver and then go to the nvidia website, download the latest driver for your card, and install that one. If it still doesn't work right you may need a new video card.It is my recommendation that given that it is a brand new computer i would NOT be describing the issue to the vendor as an improperly functioning "video card". While that may indeed be the problem it is up to them with all their technical expertise to find it fix to your satisfaction or replace the complete unit.Certainly at this stage of your ownership that is the least they should do.truenorth
