You idiot. He's talking about the new 8800 GTS 512.

name calling is unnecessary. please be more specific as to who is talking about the 8800 GTS 512mb.

It's not necessary, it's fun. Me and Calum both mean the GTS 512.

You don't know enough about hardware to give advice, Homer. Please discontinue.full review of the 8800GTX and 8800GTS 512mb here, i believe you are familiar with the forum there jess.Quote from: homer on December 15, 2007, 04:00:36 PM

Indeed I am, and I'm glad you finally found that card.

But remember, being given advice does not mean you are capable of giving it.

Can I trust that you won't try to build any more PCs until you prove to me that you have learned from me enough?i believe you are confused jess, i gave you that link to show the strengths and weaknesses of both cards. as you can see in the comparision of both the 8800GTS and the 8800GTX, the 8800GTS comes extremely close, and the odd time even surpasses, the GTX, however, the GTS is crippled by its lower memory bandwidth and its 320-bit memory interface, as compared to the GTX's 384-bit memory interface. also, not to mention, the GTS has 256mb less onboard memory.

can i trust that you wont recommend a motherboard that of which you, yourself, are returning?Based upon my own decision and the decision made by other people as well, this is best+cheapest build of the submitted entries. Here's what I came up from the winning entry:

www.directcanada.com

MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R Atx LGA775 Conroe P35 DDR2 1PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 Sata Raid Sound Gblan = $131.54

PROCESSOR: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Quad Core Processor LGA775 Kentsfield 2.40GHZ 1066FSB 8MB = $267.99

VIDEO CARD: Galaxy Geforce 8800GT Overclocked 600MHZ 512MB 2.0GHZ DDR3 PCI-E DVI-I Hdcp Hdtv Out Oem = $249.99

RAM: Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X2048-6400 2GB 2X1GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL 5-5-5-18 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel = $75.60

HARD DISK: Western Digital SE16 320GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB 8.9MS Hard Drive Oem = $75.99

TOTAL COST BEFORE TAXES/SHIPPING = $802
TOTAL COST AFTER TAXES/SHIPPING = $850

Although I will not order the EXACT setup but it will be 85% similar to this entry.

I am returning it because it's NOT the board that I reccomend.

Why the heck would I reccomend a board that isn't good? ANOTHER pathetic attempt to feel superior, huh?

No Christian will ever be superior to me.Quote from: vxdesigns on December 16, 2007, 12:30:15 PM

An SLi board is the best option. You want performance? Buying a single GT is stupid.

What's the point of giving advice, when you don't take it?Quote from: Jess607 on December 17, 2007, 11:16:15 AM

Comments on people's faith are out of order and totally unnecessary, especially when intended in a derogatory way.
Don't do it again.
Also, calling homer pathetic is less than friendly, to say the least.Quote from: Jess607 on December 17, 2007, 11:16:15 AM

thats weird... i thought you were returning it because it was a half 680i and a half 680i LT board. in addition, you did, in fact recommend it earlier in this thread...

1) Motherboard - eVGA 680i A1/T1 - 250$

and you do, in fact, plan to send it BACK...

Alright, so I decided to buy my eVGA 680i T1 board on Monday...

...And I can't excuse this anyway. I got a half-680i, half-680i LT board, and I'm sending it back.

. why is it always a "superiority" issue with you? there is no shame in being corrected.Quote from: Jess607 on December 17, 2007, 11:17:36 AM

I won't be needing a SLI board because I'm not going to use two GTS.

I appreciate the advice but I have to think about my budget first.Quote from: homer on December 17, 2007, 05:04:35 PM

Wow, you really have no wit about you whatsoever, huh?

I got a bad board. I wanted 680i, I reccomend 680i and I got 680i LT.

God, could you smite this sinner? Kthnx.Quote from: vxdesigns on December 17, 2007, 07:21:38 PM

Look, it's not a difficult concept to grasp.

You buy ONE card now and ONE card later, but you buy an SLi board NOW.

Capish? If I buy a Sli board I will have to buy other sli ready components as well which will increase the total cost.

No thanks, I'm happy with the current build.
