Answer» Recently I purchased two new bare bones computers from Tiger Direct. I'm not an expect but I know to check cables, etc before loading them up. Computer no.1 was put together with no problems, load up my operating system etc, with absolutely no problems. Computer no.2 HOWEVER was put together ok, no extra fans, etc other than the power supply fan. Computer no.2 has no os on it since the harddrive is clean, etc -virgin. I got it to turn on while bootingup from the CD. The only problem is it shuts off as soon as it powers up almost. SOMETIMES I might get one PAGE on the screen or sometimes maybe not that far. I bought new power cables thinking that might be the problem. No such luck. Now I have the mystery of why it shuts down before loading. etc. Can someone help.?? Jimmy [Email removed to prevent SPAM] 2 most common causes of this is the THERMAL Paste was not applied and/or the MBoard standoffs are not all in place and the board is shorting to the case...LOL I would certainly say that computer No. 2 will REQUIRE fans, because the CPU is overheating even before you can do anything.
Add some fans in first, then try to boot.
