Solve : Built in speakers problem?

I have an HP Pavillion dv6000-- the COMPUTER with never enough problems...

The latest is a speaker issue. The speakers are of course built in, and were malfunctioning. They weren't appearing in the bottom left, and I couldn't adjust the volume. I figured I would just disable them then re-enable them, but now they've disappeared from the control panel. I can't find the speakers anywhere, and by the icon in the bottom left, INSTEAD of a mute or something, there's a red x.

When you bought your computer, it should have came with some cds. Do you have them?So they aren't in the device manager?

click start -> right click my computer and SELECT properties -> hardware tab -> Device Manager.

Any components with a red X or a yellow ! on it?Nothing-- it's not there at all

Have you tried System Restore?
Just get the drivers from the HP website and reinstall the soundcard. The speakers are never DETECTED anyway.
