Solve : burned cd is blank?

Answer»

After burning a cd rom using different PROGRAMS and a message stating that the burn was complete. When I look at the disc, it is totally blank and I can "burn" it again.

I used 4 different programs and 4 different brand cd's, the same problem.

I use Windows XP home SP2

TPLMust be a problem with the burner itself...

[glb]Flame[/glb]Burner works fine in another machine. It worked OK here when first installed 2 weeks ago.Try updating the drivers frot the burner...

[glb]Flame[/glb]My computer that's not even a year old does the same thing, except it wrecks the CDs. I can't figure out why.Cheap CD(s)? Bad software?

[glb]Flame[/glb]Do you need the patch?>http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=70446CF9-5B5A-4733-A9AF-E6AD6A2D96A1My CD-ROM Reader/Writer has a habbit of mislocating data in clusters and causing them to become corrupted... Well, that is the OFFICIAL explanation given to me by Nero, anyway.

Would anyone care to shed a light on that?http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/learnmore/bott_03september16.mspxI read the article about the patch and I am having one of the symptoms described. I'm not at home right now but I'll download and install it as soon as I do.i kind of had the same problem this morning, i went to burn a cd with Nero and it kept asking me to save it as an image, couldnt figure out why. Then i realized that My Computer no longer showed my DVD/CD drive. I opened up the device manager and the drive has a yellow hazard/exclamation point SIGN next to it.  The properties menu GIVES this explanation:
Code: [Select]
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."

Troubleshooting told me to try uninstalling the drive then reinstalling, then to check for an update driver. I tried both, Windows could not find a driver for it.

Not sure where to go from here, any help would be great.
