Solve : Burned up 2 monitors in 3 hours????

Answer»

I was reformatting and reinstalling XP on a friends COMPUTER. While I was letting it install I came into the room and saw that my monitor was not working. I unplugged it and tested it else where but it would not turn on. I got my spare monitor and plugged it into the computer and finished the install. I was then updating the Norton Anti Virus and went to sleep. I got up this morning and that monitor was burned up ALSO...Help, I have never seen or heard of this problem with a computer to burn up monitors? Any hints or help would be appreciated.Your VIDEOCARD may be faulty.

Are you CERTAIN the monitors aren't in powersaving and/or standby mode?Very sure...I get no lights when plugged into the wall, alone, by itself, not plugged into the computer.
Very weird....Thanks for the info...will test the video card. What type of monitors, what resolution and what refresh rate.Hi there! I`m quite new to this whole BLOG thing so bare with me pls

I had this problem with my pc a while back....seems like the power supply in the box was faulty and gave the monitor the wrong voltage....(due to dust in p.s.)(p.s.=power supply)

Replace the p.s. with a spare if you have or just borrow one and switch it over and see if that solves the problem....I know it sounds like a lot of work but will save you from buying a new box for nothing if you just could have replaced the p.s.A BLOG is something other than a forum..

Unless you think the Romans of old used to 'blog'. I think the lions used to blog the Christians there.
