Solve : Buying A New Monitor?

Answer»

I going to buy a new computer and the one I like the most after researching it is the
HP Pavilion p7-1225 Desktop which is at Office Depot for $599.99.
They recommended I purchase the Samsung® S23A300B 23" LED-Backlit Monitor, Black.
Its on sale for $179.99. I like this monitor and was wondering if anyone have any good or bad
things to say about. Also, if you know of a much better monitor to purchase you can give me some info.
I don't to spend anymore money then what the cost of the Samsung monitor listed above is and I don't want it any larger than 23"
Below I have listed the computer specs for the computer I'm PURCHASING so if you have any other monitor
choices make sure it will work fine with this computer. Thanks!!!!

Can you be more specific about the size and resolution you want and perhaps the acceptable range of sizes and resolutions?  If you're in the U.S., I suggest visiting newegg.com and READING buyer reviews on various models of monitors.  I'd be open to various brands such as ASUS, Acer, Samsung, and others.

Do you want a monitor with both DVI and VGA connections?  If not, then which type do you need?  Do you want a monitor with built-in speakers?  Any other specific technical requirements? Thanks for the reply!!!!

Any monitor that meets the above specs (there abouts) would work if you know of one.
I did see a review about this monitor somewhere that a USER could not get the color purple to
show up as purple. It was showing up as blue.
Also, what type is the better one to get? One that is LED or LCD? Quote

I'll defer to other forum members on that question.  It's not an area I've researched.  You can read newegg.com reviews on the Samsung monitor at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001487&Tpk=Samsung%u00ae%20S23A300B

Here's another monitor that selling at a very attractive promotional price now: Acer G245HQABD 23.6" LCD Monitor Black
Thanks for the links.
I don't really like the problems that is says with the Sansung.
Don't care much for the remarks they say about the ACER either.Well, the Acer has 77% 5 eggs and 9% 4 eggs on the reviews, significantly better than the Samsung.  I think I'd have no qualms about buying that Acer.  Newegg.com is generally good about allowing returns if you have a problem within the allowable return period. I haven't read reviews on it but, as long you feel comfortable with that choice, then that's fine.  But, you realize that HP is obviously going to recommend an HP monitor, don't you? In the event that the money for a monitor has not left your possession as you requested information on lcd/ led comparisons here is a fine article that will help you to decide on what suits you best.

truenorthThanks for the REPLIES!!!!
I asked HP  about the monitor directly because they would be sure to tell me what monitor would work
great with the computer I'm purchasing.
Also, thanks for the LED/LCD link. It was very helpful!
