Volume C: in this computer is a 30G. Windows reports it at around 18, and the BIOS reports is as 20020 MB. All of the Googling I've done is for
-Wrong size reported while installing hard drive
-Wrong partition size (which I read as applying to a partitioned drive)
-Wrong size SHOWN only in Windows Explorer

None of these apply to me. There are no "extenuating circumstances" besides the possibly of a setting or registry key or something, and the wrong size applies all over. The paging file is about 2 gigs so that is probably why the BIO size DIFFERS from Windows' reported size.

With a 30G hard drive it is important to have the correct size reported. Can somebody help me? Thanks.If I REMEMBER right it    could have something to do with all the system restore images on the computer.  Can someone out there verify that?  My suggestion would be to turn off SR but DON'T do that until someone can follow up.

Alan <><  If you're talking about available space then yes, the likely culprit is System Restore. Restore points utilize a LOT of space. You can limit the space allocated to System Restore (System Properties - System Restore Tab. You can immediately regain all that space by disabling System Restore (NOTE: all restore points will be immediately deleted). In my opinion, two better options are ERUNT for registry backup and any Disk Imaging SOFTWARE for full backup and protection.if your talking about total space TAKE a trip to disk management and note what that says about the drive partitions.Thanks Allan & BC
