Solve : Cable name??

Answer»

Greetings to all. I need something simple. Being crippled with MS, I need to bring that USB "port" at the back of my PC tower around to the front of the tower. My PC tower is inside my PC workdesk. So the USB ports of course are on the back of the tower (I think it's plug "A" where you would plug in any device like a Kindle or a digital camera, anything). So would that be CALLED something like a USB port extension cable, A-male-to-A-female or something? HEEEEEEEEEELP!!!USB extension cable. Google it.

I would recommend a powered usb hub vs a USB extender. Reason being that if you get a powered USB hub that is not powered off of your computer you will likely have less troubles. I have seen troubles with USB extenders because the wires inside the cables are too weak (too light of wire gage ) to power a EXTERNAL hard drive off of and function etc, also instead of having just 1 port per cable you can turn a single USB port from the rear of your computer to 5 that are accessible at the hub.

Here is one that I have. This allows for devices to charge also when the computer is off.

The 2.5 inch drive can run of USB power.
