Answer» I just got a new dimension 5150 from Dell and it comes with a conexant D850 56k DVFc MODEM
Windows XP home edition version 2002 SP 2
I need to KNOW how can I activate the caller Id function on this modem, on HyperTerminal It doesn’t GIVE the phone number. All I get is a RING
I’ve tried the AT+VCIS=1 & AT+VCID=2 and it answers OK, but when I call the PC all I get is a RING and no Caller ID info
I do have caller id from my telephone provider, and I have tested other PC’s and modems it does work
ATI6 command gives me this : SoftK56 CModem Version 12 Rksample Version 342 OK
Any help will be HIGHLY appreciated
Regards
Norvak You might be stuffed there, I'm afraid. Could be a very cut down winmodem that doesn't understand caller ID. You could try >Conexant's support website< but modem strings are not something that many users ask about, so the info you want might not be there. You may get a response to an email?
Bear in mind that external (e.g. USB) modems tend to be better-featured and better documented. They're also pretty cheap. Onboard modems? Well... you get what you pay for...I've FOUND the following :
On OEM0.INF
[CID] HKR,EnableCallerID,1,,"at+vcid=1" HKR,,CallerIDPrivate,,P HKR,,CallerIDOutSide,,O HKR,Responses,"DATE = ",1,93,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 HKR,Responses,"TIME = ",1,94,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 HKR,Responses,"NMBR = ",1,95,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 HKR,Responses,"NMBR = ",1,95,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 HKR,Responses,"NAME = ",1,96,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 HKR,Responses,"MESG = ",1,97,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
DriverOEMVersion="7.06.00.50"Does this "DriverOEM" version correspond to the version reported by device manager? If so, your detective work does provide a hint to the modem's capabilities. I confess I still don't know how to access them.Have you contacted Dell since it is a new purchase?
