Solve : Can I have 3 hard drives?? |
|
Answer» HELLO I have an AMD Athalon, Win Xp Sp3, 512 RAM. Can I add a third drive to the system? I have a 20 Gig and an 80 GIG in it, and Im almost out of space. I bought a 250 GIG drive to get some more space and I wanted to add the 250 GIG into the system., but I want all the info on the 80 GIG drive on the 250.. The 20 GIG Drive has O/S on it. Can I add the 250 to the...say CD Player cable as a slave and transfer all the data?Yes. There are many options for doing this and you're way is one of them... You COULD also add a PCI/IDE card that will let you add up to 4 more IDE drives... You could see if your MBoard has any SATA ports and buy a SATA drive... You could "clone" the 20G OS drive to the new 250G and use it as your main HDD... Many more possibilities. Give some more thought on how the ideal setup would be for your machine and post back for more guidelines on how to get there...GREAT thanks Patio. I like this idea of CLONING to the 250. The 250 will have the O/S on it and all the data. Then I can free up the space in the case and send the data from the 80 Gig to the 250. Net result is 250Gig has all the previous data and 150 Gig empty. Two hard drives 20 and 80 spare. Sounds like a good solution to me. Ok so will I open a new thread on how do I clone a drive? You could have stayed in this thread but no biggie... |
