Solve : Can I use SDRAM and DDR in same PC?

Answer»

I have 2 memory slots with SDRAM install, two empty memory slots available that SDRAM will not fit in because there is only one place in the slot for a "cut out", which is right in the middle of the slot. I think that this is probably for DDR. Can I combine SDRAM and DDR? I would like to increase my RAM.
Thanks
Here is what I have now.

Google is your FRIEND and you can do it too!

Learn about memory here:

http://www.crucial.com/store/listmodel.asp?cat=RAM&mfr=Elite+Group+%28ECS%29&productline=Elite+Group+%28ECS%29+Motherboards&submit=GoI had a mainboard with both SDRAM and DDR slots. On that one, you could not use both at the same time.

I don't know much about AMD stuff, so I couldn't tell you what the bus speed on your processor is, or if upgrading to DDR memory would have any benefit for you.I think it is an either/or deal, but he needs to research his motherboard.Well... Being curious... I found some info on that board.

You can't run SDRAM and DDR at the same time.

Your processor has a 200 or 266 FSB, DDR 266 is the maximum the board can make use of and will perform better than the 133 SDRAM.

The author of a web page about your board says that DDR 400 will work in the board (at DDR 266 speed). Might be WISE to buy DDR 400 that could be reused if you upgrade or build a more modern system. Unless you can find a killer deal on some DDR 266

Maximum installed memory is 1GB (2 X 512 MB)

Of course, GX1_Man has a point... "Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a DAY... Teach a man to fish and he'll likely starve to DEATH before figuring out what a horrible teacher and fisherman I am!!!"
LOL!
