It reads:
Award Medallion in BIOS v6.0
Copyright (C) 1884-2001, Award Software, Inc.
Intel Pentium 4 2000 MHz Processor'Memory Test 1310720K OK
BIOS Revision 1004
Detecting Primry Master..None
Detecting Primary Slave...None
Detecting Secondary Master ... Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-M1612
Detecting Secondary Slave ... SONY CD-RW CRX175E
How do you get from this (above)...

OK a CHANGE in the window info
It used to say:

Detecting Primary Master...None
Detecting Primary Slave...None

Now it reads:
Detecting Primary Master... SAMSUNG SV6003H
Detecting Primary Slave ...NONE
...
...to this (above). You went from a Toshiba & a Sony to a Samsung. Is this the same computer? Looked it up, the Samsung is the hard drive. If the BIOS doesn't see a device, Windows won't see it.Quote from: Salmon Trout on August 18, 2011, 01:31:15 PM
You can get them everywhere else as well.
That was helpful. Quote from: Computer_Commando on August 18, 2011, 01:38:57 PM

It was intended to be.
No latch to be found on the heatsink. Darn thing is impossible to remove. I'll try replacing the battery. Wouldn't that be awesome if it were 3.50buk fix!Commando...good question. I have no idea how it went from a sony to a toshiba to a samsung. It is a Sony. Maybe when I hit the default settings it changed? Arghghhh!!!
Low or dead CMOS batteries will do all kinds of weird things. Same thing for digital WATCHES. Just a couple hours AGO, couldn't figure out why stopwatch function wouldn't reset properly, kept resetting to all 2's or all 3's, would go to 00 for a second then back to 2's or 3's. Removed battery, load tester indicates virtually dead.Quote from: Computer_Commando on August 20, 2011, 04:29:12 PM

Why would a low battery change SONY into TOSHIBA and then SAMSUNG? Why not SONY to ^&%%R$$£ and then =))[emailprotected]@# and then ::%$£? Seems kind of odd that the putative "low battery" would just happen to know the names of some East Asian drive manufacturers and be able to spell them, too.

Only the Primary Master changed from NONE to SAMSUNG SV6003H
Primary Slave stayed at NONE
Secondary Master & Slave went from NONE to "nothing listed", either OMITTED by OP or ?
