Solve : Can't install my new graphics card.?

Answer»

I just received the GRAPHICS card I just ordered, EVGA GeForce 9800 GT, but I can't install it. I have the proper port, power supply, ROOM, and WHATNOT but it's the mounting bracket (correct name?). I'm not big with computer hardware so I didn't notice this when I got my computer for xmas of '08 but the mounting bracket (B) was bent outwards. They even went as far to wrongly install a switch or something (C) BACKWARDS.
What I would like to know is if I can just remove the cover (A) and have someone bend the mount (B) inwards or should I send it back into where I got it if possible? This is because I got it from iBuyPower which is located in CA and I'm in NY so I don't want to ship it out there and have to wait for it and I don't have the original box it came in about a year and a a half ago.

Thanks in advance,
~LuckyI don't think bending it is the answer, you should remove part A and the plate that blocks the hole. You should place the card so that the "tab" at the top of the backplate lies on B, insert the screw and replace part B.

I would recommend looking at part C to see how it is installed and copy that with the graphics card.Quote from: camerongray on May 04, 2010, 11:15:39 AM

Correct, except for bold above: "...replace part A.If you look at pic 1 exhibit A, you see the little screw im willing to bet you there is one on the bottom half of the case as well, if you remove both of the screws that bracket should COME off and you should be able to take the blanks out of the way and install your graphics card with out an issue >.< Good luck, hope you understand.
