Solve : Can't load new website? |
|
Answer» I have built a beautiful new website and tried to load it with WS_FTP LE, and I keep getting a ! error Failed Transferat the BOTTOM left HAND. how might I correct the 'issues'?Remove the FrontPage-specific code. I'm afraid I don't use FrontPage and can't HELP you there. You're better off using PHP if you want to do anything fancy with your web site. Speed - efficiency - installed client base - EXPERT assistance - lots of free stuff. Oh, and it has this advantage over FrontPage Server Extensions: it works. It's up and running ( www.robynrinehart.com ), but some of my links aren't working now, even though I've tested it over and over! Back to the drawing board. Will put it into Dreamweaver and do as suggested. Hard work for an old brain like mine. Thanks for the input. There is some very nice artwork there and you deserve wider recognition. Do you seriously think the "no right click" script will PROTECT you though? I can rip every graphic or anything else off that site in under two minutes. Some images are still sourced using absolute URLs in your PCs filesystem. Example: page - http://www.robynrinehart.com/cartoons.htm Some of the navigation buttons are faling to appear because they are sourced like this: file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Robyn%20Rinehart/My%20Documents/My%20Webs/myweb/tababout2.gif Meanwhile,... What a gorgeous image: http://www.robynrinehart.com/reflections.htmThanks for spotting my dopey mistake, and for your compliment. I did remember yesterday, after my last post , that I made the same blue some years back. Am up early this moring to correct it before the day begins. I have an open studio day today, and want it all working. Re: the right hand click code. I know all you have to do is save the page and pull the graphics, but a lot don't, so I do it as a caution more than anything else. Thanks again. Quote Re: the right hand click code. Thanks again.Of course, many people in your position "watermark" the images.Yes, I did that on my last site, but it does flaw the image and I do love it pristine. Even I save the odd image, if it inspires me in some way, so I should reciprocate in some way and let it go.Fair enough - but you could use one of those non-detectable watermarks, provided by certain high-end graphics packages? (Pretty easy to get around that kind of protection though.)I use Photoshop, and have never looked into that. Will get into 'Help' and have a look. I love this site! So many good ideas and generous people. Thanks |
