Solve : Can't read CD-Rs?

I can't get an older Goldstar CD-ROM drive (probably from around 1996) to read CD-Rs. Is there a firmware update that will fix this?John K. Perkins Jr.  Will it read any cd ?

Do you have the latest drivers installed for the cd drive ......

...Isn't Goldstar an apple brand?Goldstar is not an Apple brand. The CD-ROM drive CAME in a Packard Bell. I'm just using the basic CD-ROM drivers that come with Windows. The OS is Windows 95. By regular CDs I meant the CDs that new software comes on. The kind you can't write to.Older CD-ROM's often can not seem to read EITHER CD-R's and CD-RW's. Or both.

Here seems to be a list with a VARIETY of drivers. Perhaps it is of use to you.
