Solve : Can you recommend a standard keyboard??

Answer»

I have moved from a Thinkpad R40 laptop to a tower with XP and a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. I can't get used to the keyboard. Can anyone recommend a straight standard keyboard with keys like the one on my thinkpad? By that I mean they are quiet, comfortable, easy to reach, easy to push down, and it's not an ergonomic keyboard.Someone gave me one of those because they hated it. I hate it, too. It's CONNECTED to a backup computer which I rarely use. Go to any computer or office supply store and try out the "normal" ones. The "ergo" keyboards are the best!

You might EVEN try some of the thrift stores in your area. I've gotten good keyboards from the local Goodwill store for two DOLLARS US, a piece. Sure, they need to be cleaned, but you may find you prefer the tactile sensation of the older keyboards.

As was suggested above, try the variety of keyboards you'll find at retail stores. PRICE isn't always an idicator, either. Some of the best keyboards I've had have been in the twenty dollar range. The one I'm using right now is a MS Wired keyboard 500.

I was using another keyboard, far larger, more buttons, etc.

but some of the keys were the wrong shape... stretched out, almost... it was extremely annoying.

Also, the Home/END ..etc key block was a different shape then what I was used to...

it takes me some adjustment to be able to use them effectively, and until I do... well, I end up pressing the wrong keys.
