Answer» Hi,
Please ACCEPT my apologies if this has been covered extensively before. Solutions for others do not work for me.
I was gifted a new HDD (Firegate 500GB hybrid) and am attempting installation on an Toshiba Satellite Pro L50A but its not going to plan. Prior to this the system was running Win 10 installed on the original Toshiba HDD without issue.
With original HDD in-situ the I accessed the BIOS and set the BOOT order to USB first. I created a Win 10 USB boot using the Microsoft media creation tool. I tested this USB on 2 systems and was taken to the install prompts as expected so I understand that the boot media is functional.
With the new HDD installed however there is no recognition of the USB. Ive tried all of the USB ports. It is resorting to boot via ethernet and I'm getting the following error message:
Check cable connection! PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM
Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key
Furthermore, I am ALSO unable to access the BIOS with this HDD installed.
Re-installation of the original HDD fixes it all.
Any advice is much APPRECIATED. I'd SUGGEST replacing the cmos battery and resetting the bios. Then try booting. The bios doesn't care if there is a hd installed, so that has nothing to do with anything.
