Answer» Hello
When I insert a blank TDK DVD with a view to burning a movie, I can hear the disk trying to start (whirring round) and restart over and over again and in Win 10 'This PC' I can see my drives, I just get that round blue circle endlessly rotating when I click on my CD-DVD E drive.
I remove the TDK disk and insert a new Traxdata DVD, and the same thing happens.
Finally, I use a VERBATIM disk which is a Windows boot disk (DVD+RW). When I try to remove the existing files by right-clicking on the drive and choosing 'Erase this disk', Windows tells me 'The wizard can't finish erasing this disk'.
On the other hand, I can see photos I have burnt to CDs and I can see DVDs that have been bought from shops.
Basically, the 'burn movie to DVD' aspect of things is not working.
The CD-DVD drive itself is about four weeks old and never used.
I can't return it to the manufacturer because I haven't got the order no (it was a GIFT).
Is there anything else I can try, please?
Thanks What is make/model of the drive... from sounds of it it might be a CD-RW/DVD drive and not a DVD-RW drive maybe. Knowing the exact make and model number will SHOW if this is the case. That's what I suspect too since Dave, you solved a similar problem for me not long ago which was that my drive is CD-RW / DVD-R meaning it will READ and write CD's but only read DVD's. A DVD-RW drive is needed to solve this issue. BTW, Thanks again for your help that day Dave!
