The drives for my CDRom and CD BURNING are suddenly missing when I click on 'My Computer'. I am not sure when they went missing. I did a Belarc system check and they are not shown. My OS is WinXP Pro SP2.

Can I do something in system restore. Can I keep resetting system restore and go back day by day until they re-appear?

JoeI have the same problem with ONE of my computers, it doesn't show my cd-rom or dvd player, making it impossible to copy my pictures to cd's, if you find a solution I would sure like to know, please post.

Thanks mrave0Which operating system are you USING? Have you made any changes to your system recently? Do you have virus and Spyware protection? Have you tried updating your drivers by going to the drive manufacturer's website?

FlameI had this problem once, I went to the control panel, system, hardware. device manager. I highligted my DVD drive that was not SHOWING up and uninstalled it. Restarted the computer and let WINDOWS XP find it and it was Ok after that. Don't guarentee that will work tho.That is always the best first approach.
