Solve : Canon BJC-2010 printer?

Answer»

Hi--
My printer (Canon BJC-2010) has been working great, but now it's not printing. It responds to the print command by sending the paper through and making all the right noises, but the page comes out blank--NOTHING prints. I tried replacing the ink cartridges, but that didn't help. I've unplugged it, and restarted it. I've SHUT down and restarted my computer, but that didn't make a DIFFERENCE. Any ideas?? (I hope I've given enough info, I'm new at this!) Thanks for any help you can offer

I'm not familiar with that MODEL. I had a BJC2000 years ago (1996 maybe?) Is it that old?I'm thinking I've had it since 2000--so about 6 years. I wonder if the problem is in the thingie that holds the ink cartridge and puts the ink on the page?? I took that out and examined it but there's nothing obvious. Any ideas are welcome!Clogged print head?

I ruined a Canon 2000 by using generic refilled cartridges. Never had a problem with authentic Canon ones. But again, all equipment fails eventually....Did you remove the sticky tape stuff from the print head?Yep, I did remove the cap on the ink cartridge. It's a big red plastic cover on these, which makes it easier! I am using generic ink from Office Depot, though. Maybe that's the trouble--If it is that, do you think I can just switch back to Canon ink or is there another fix?? If it is ruined, do I need to replace the printer, or just the part? Thanks so much for the help--It seems that printer is at least 6 years old possibly a lot more.
I came across a site that listed the OS requirements as 3.11 or NT.

From what I've found it looks like a cheapie anyway so you're probably better off buying a new printer rather than take the chance of buying a new Canon cartridge which may not fix it.

They almost give the printers away now so you'll buy their over priced cartridges.
I've had many Canon printers and have always found them good value when you CONSIDER the low price of the printer.
