Solve : CARD READER TROUBLE? |
|
Answer» HELLO THERE, HAVE RECENTLY BROUGHT A PLUG IN USB CARD READERThis card reader is an external one which connects to the computer via a USB cable...... Is that correct? Can you provide a brand make and model number for us ? Did it come with any software ? Quote WHEN I PLUG THE THING IN THE COMPUTER RECOGNISES IT AND HP317EXT{E:}This is either a HP 317 diital camera or the actual card reader ........ Is the card reader a HP # 317 reader ? The EXT ...probably denotes it's an external and the E: is the drive number the windows system has assigned it. The pop up you see is normal...... whenever you plug in any new hardware , windows alerts you with a message in the lower corner of the screen that says......... Windows has detected new hardware........ this message will disappear after a few seconds and it is usually replaced with a new one which says , the new hardware has been successfully installed and is ready for use ( or words similar) Next , I would assume that you would remove the media card from the camera , insert it into the appropriate slot in the card reader, now go to My computer, open drive E and the contents of the card should be displayed..... Then , and I'm only guessing , you would select all the displayed pics , copy them to the clipboard and paste them into whichever folder you wish........ Did you not get any sort of manual with the reader or any instructions? Please let us know .... dl65 pix usually in the DCIM folder hello there, yes it is a external plug in,into the usb slot, the reader reads"usb 2.0",when i open drive e ,four folders open up,three of them are empty, dcim has 4 items in it, listed as 100hpimg to 103hpimg,when i open these nothing happens!i know there are pictures on the card as i can see them in the digital camera viewer, any ideas anyone?odd, I dont think its the reader though. try right click on icon, open with, choose picture and fax viewer and see what happens... |
