Solve : case lights come on, no booting or error beeps though.?

Answer»

Hey,

The problem:
After upgrading my case on my pc. I pressed the power button and the lights come on in the case and the fans start but nothing else happens. No system error beeps. I have a Remote Admin server side application that runs on boot and I cannot connect to that and I do not hear any windows startup sounds after a short time either.

Things I have checked:
- Power cables to HDDs, motherboard.
- Power button cable
- connection cables for HDD
- Graphics card inserted correctly

The monitors work as I am using them to type this on my spare computer. I cannot quickly test the GPU because the secondary pc does not have the right expansion slots (quite old)

System Info:
CPU: Intel* Q6600 Quad Core 2.4Ghz
Motherboard: Asus p5b
HDD 0: 250Gb
HDD 1: 1TB
RAM: 2* 1GB sticks
Graphics Card: NVIDIA 8500GT
Case: Thermaltake m9d?
PSU: 460W
Optical drive: DVD etc (not connected)
Monitors: ASUS VW22u[secondary], ASUS MW22u[primary]
Liquid Cooling, Thermaltake Bigwater

Operating System:
Installed on 250Gb HDD
Windows Vista Ultimate x64*

Thank you for any help

*editedA guy might want to double-check the pin connections for the wires from the front of the case. Power, Reset, etc.

I TRIED the Asus web site. Quote

First, I had to look up that this is an Intel chip. Why not tell us in your specifications? Not everyone knows every Intel vs. AMD chip by sight. I chose the Vista 64 bit option.

This brings me to a set of manuals from which you can choose to download HERE.I am certain that the case buttons work correctly. The power button makes the lights come on and kills them after it has been held down for 3 seconds or so and the reset button kills the lights when held in and turns them BACK on when released. (ie. they work as expected)

Added os bit NUMBER and chip brand too...

Will update if i find anything useful in the manuals

*UPDATE: nothing useful in manuals or english.

Any other ideas? What the problem could possibly be?

It turns on for a second then dies then turns back on then idles.
Unplugged RAM

Reseated RAM

Computer Works...

Don't Question, Just ACCEPT...No questions. I should have suggested that in the first place!
