I have a CD drive that is 5 YEARS old and recently for no reason at all it wont eject. Well it does eject but it gets stuck before it can come out. Usually I have to slip my finger nail on the side and puch the COVER to the left right or down before I rehit the eject button then it comes out. Once it comes out sometimes but not always there is a ticking sound. The ticking sound SOUNDS like when something is stuck andit hits against soemething. This happens when the CD is spinning inside. The CD drive still reconises the CD but sometimes during installation it will just keep spinning the light stop blinking and then it says can not copy... PLEASE insert CD drive and HIT Ok to continue. When I hit Ok nothing happens. I have to eject then let the CD go back in again. Let it spin down then hit the Ok button then it will find the file and continue with installation.

Any opinions?Time to go to the cdrom shop for a new one I think mate. Or in the meantime, try using this little script that Sidewinder developed:

Copy this text into Notepad and save it with a .vbs extension, like OpenCD.vbs. Then just double click that file in explorer and the CD tray should pop open. Ultimate geekdom.
