Answer» Hope someone can shed some LIGHT please with this problem. recently my cd drive has been operating quite erratic , it seems to work problem free most TIMES then quite recently it has started acting up, not burning properly , not reading media-data and now it has a blank Cd and it won't eject. I don't want to switch it off as it would boot from the DISC drive and then i would be really stuck.so if anyone can HELP i would most appreciate it many thanx in advance If the CD is blank it won't boot from it.The emergency method to open a CD/DVD drive is to straighten out a paper clip... Then look for a small hole in the front of the drive and insert the clip there and press... Heh, I just had to do this earlier today, with the laptop CD/DVD ROM drive out of the computer no less! I had to get mine replaced so Dell sent me a new one, and anways, after replacing it I realized I had forgotten to check for CD! And sure ENOUGH, there was one in there.note: this trick never fails to impress. That's the only "MAC" toll I carry.
