Solve : CD/DVD Burner Slowing Down?

Answer»

Hi all

I have noticed that it is taking longer to burn a CD. Used to take less than 5 minutes, now is around 10 - 12. Using same kind of blank CD's and have checked for newer drivers. Yes, it gets heavy usage. Is she dying ?

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

OS: Windows XP sp2

Compaq Presario FS7600 (about 2 yrs old)
Intel Celeron
2.93 GHz
504 MB RAM

DVD burner is LITE ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S

Thanks in advance.
what software do you use , Nero ? (maybe a laser is going bad?)
also, look at this LINK below *

http://www.schrockinnovations.com/cdrwspeed.phpThanks for the tip.

I use MM Jukebox Plus. (the last version before it became Yahoo! MM Jukebox ... arghhhhhh) I don't care for Nero ... comes with way too many additional things that I have no use for. The fewer bells and whistles, the better. I have simple tastes. CDBurnerXP Pro....FREE.

Keep in mind there are a ton of factors to consider here as well.
Over 2 years you have probably installed/uninstalled many programs. The number of things running in the background will affect burn SPEEDS.
Also the type of data being burned may be different as well...a data CD /DVD will burn relatively quick compared to a DVD movie or a collection of photos or music etc.

I schedule all my burning for right before my last Scotch of the EVENING and never see the machine til morning so i'm unaffected by burn speeds."I schedule all my burning for right before my last Scotch of the evening and never see the machine til morning so i'm unaffected by burn speeds."

F'ing beautiful !!!!
