Solve : CD/DVD Drive Acting Weird.?

Answer»

Ok, I have a Pioneer Dvd-Rw DVR-112D and it's ACTING so strange. I built a new computer and I have everything plugged in and installed correctly. I even used the CD drive to install windows xp pro. But when I try to put in CDs for games or blank cds/dvds it will not read it. It's a DVD-RW burner and everything. All the drivers are updated, i just have ran out of ideas. Any help?Place one of the game Cd's/DVDs into the drive > Right click drive/ left click explore, does it now let you see the contents of the CD/DVD? Have you also set the option which allows a DVD/CD to auto start?I did the right click/ then explore and none of the contents showed up. And I am not sure if I have set the auto start. How do I do that?Optical drives don't need any extra drivers.

Try to uninstall drive through Device Manager. Restart, and Windows will reinstall it.That still doesnt work. I hate this drive. It's a Pioneer DVR-112D.Try one of these:
1. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
or...
2. http://aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip
or...
3. Go to Device Manager, click a "+" sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
You'll see two items:
- ATA Channel0 (or Primary Channel)
- ATA Channel1 (or Secondary Channel)
Right click on each of them, and click Uninstal. Confirm.
Restart Windows. They'll be automatically reinstalled.I used Step 2 and that didn't work. I tried step three but there wasnt a ATA Channel0 or Channel1Under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers in device manager - What do have LISTED?

Are you ABLE to try this DVD-RW in another computer?Quote

If Windows XP, that would be Primary, and Secondary Channel.Quote from: Broni on July 18, 2008, 09:18:24 AM

I found Primary, and Secondary Channel and I un-installed them and restarted. The system message said they re installed and work properly but the CD drive still doesn't work.Your best bet would be to try this drive in another computer.
