Seems like everything has gone wrong after downloading SP2. My CD's play fine, sound is great. HOWEVER, when I recently played a DVD, there was a picture, but no sound. I WENT into the volume CONTROL, everything was fine. Chatted with a Sony TECH. person, she advised me to download the original driver. I did, and not only did I have no sound, but the picture got distorted and went black and I received a "stop error" message. Boy was I pissed. Anyway, followed instructions for the stop error, that didn't work either. Went back to Sony, spoke with another tech. person. He reassure me that Changing the BIOS WOULD definitely work. No way. Went back again, against my better judgement, and was again give another link "procedure to troubleshoot the CD/DVD drive. Driver is enabled, no hardward conflict, no viruses. Check ed Device Manager, all clear there. Even had a search for updated driver. couldn't find a better match. I also attached an external drive, and the same thing happen, a picture, but no sound. So I'm really confused. Unfortunately, I can't go into safe mode, because it keeps kicking me back to normal. So does anyone out there have any further advise. Thanks.
