Yesterday while turning on my pc my cd drive light turned red (never seen a red light on it before ?) and after windows was loaded my computer FROZE.  This happened again today while I was online.  My drive light came on red and everything froze again.  Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this or what I can do to fix it.  I am not incredibly computer savy   so if you can keep it simple that would be great.  Thank you for any help you can give me. Which operating system are you using? Do you have virus protection? When did this happen, and how LONG has this been going on? Also, have you INSTALLED any new hardware/software prior to this incident?

[glb]Flame[/glb]It Windows Me :-/ and yes I have McAfee. It started happening yesterday and no I hadn't installed anything before this happened.   Its already happened twice today now.Windows ME.... Well... There's a problem... (Windows ME was the worst OS ever released lol) But... Lets try a system restore... Lets hope this works.... Click Start -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore ... Now, it will ask you if you want to REVERT your hard disk to an eralier time... Click yes/next... Now... You will see a BIG claendar... Click on the day BEFORE this happened... (If there is no checkpoint for that day, go to the one before, etc.) ... Click Next... This will now show you what will happen... Make sure that the date is selected properly, and click next/finish.... After a few minutes, your computer will restart... Just let it run its COURSE... Login (if you have a password to your account), and see what happens! Keep in touch!
