Solve : cd-rom drive acting up?

Answer»

Hi,
I'm new and I joined your forum to ask for help. My husband was playing a computer game using a DISK in the cd-rom drive. His game crashed or froze and so he tried to eject his cd-rom game disk. The door wouldn't open. We tried everything......turning off computer and re-booting....ejecting from "My computer", ETC. Finally I got the door open using a paper clip. To my surprise, the game disk was broken in dozens of pieces!! Now the door won't close again. COULD someone help??? Did I break the disk trying to open the door? Did the computer do it? What should I do about the door that won't close? Maybe there is still some bits of disk in there. Thanks so much for your help.
CluelessmomI think it was a faulty disk that caused this, was it a copy?
Bits & pieces and possible DAMAGE will be causing your current cdrom problem, buy a new one.No it wasn't a copy. When you say buy a new one....do you mean a whole new cd-rom drive? How could it break up a cd into so MANY pieces?Yes, buy a new cdrom, they're not expensive, better still buy a burner if you don't have one, that's all you will need.

I believe it had to be a faulty disk, have you ever tried to break one by hand, they are made of kryptonite.Whatever caused it, get a new drive.
