Solve : CD-RW Cannot Read after it Burns? |
|
Answer» My office purchased an emachine with a no name burner. I have no problem reading music CD's. I have backed up files on a new CD-RW and the files are present when I go to My Computer. When I attempt to read those files I get an error "No CD in E: drive". I have unistalled in Device Mgr. and rebooted. Windows recognized the new hardware and loaded generic drivers. I reburned and I have the same error. Tech support went as far as telling me to re-formate my hard drive??? In my opinion, they should install better hardware. Disk manager recongnizes the drive as E: and there are no obvious conflicts::::Any Thoughts?Have you tried a different brand of CD-RW?toda1Thanks Raptor...I've tried three different labels to no avail...I can't understand why it can't read its own burn? when the device couldn't read I thought it was missing a DLL file as opposed to a driver which it would have poped up a missing driver message What DLL file is missing? Quote ... Emachines has been no help at all...I requested a replacemment drive with credit card info and a month later no response. It's mostly likely a bad drive...the Write laser is dead or out of alignment...the Read laser is working. They've gone from Bad to Worse! Keep after them until they give you a replacement. Tell them you will file a complaint with the US Federal Trade Commission if they don't HONOR their warranty. File the complaint ANYWAY, you will probably have a free replacement at your door before you KNOW it. Thanks All ~ I'm of the same opinion as Computer_Commando...I think the laser is out of aleignment. Cheap parts and no customer service leads to great profits....Raptor:::if I understand dynamic link library files: that's the traffic cop that sends information in a direction to support software and hardware configurations. If an execution driver is missing a popup will let the user know...If the DLL files are corrupted, device manager may indicate that the hardware is working properly with the proper drivers loaded...when in fact " the traffic cop is somewhere eating DONUTS and a few lame drivers slip through the intersection", not being a smart man, I have to use logical perspective to put computer language in common language. I'm a newbie and I really like this site. Good work ladies and gentlemen Was the data written as data..........whats the make of the drive. And i take it ,your o/s is winxp........Unless you are infected with a VIRUS, spyware, trojan horse or you deliberatly alter DLL files, I doubt they could be damaged? Windows has some protection.Never new this .........please explain......... Quote Never new this .........please explain......... Come again? Pass! |
